About National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day:

This holiday was invented on a snowy winter day in approximately 1966 by Florence Rappaport of Rochester, New York. To entertain her 6 kids on a cold snowy February Saturday, she declared it to be Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. She explained, “It was cold and snowy and the kids were complaining that it was too cold to do anything. So I just said, ‘Let’s have ice cream for breakfast.”  The idea took off and has been celebrated world wide. Florence Rappaport and her children never imagined how far their made-up holiday’s influence would spread. In recent years, many ice cream shops around the United States and the world have begun to use Ice Cream for Breakfast Day as a fundraising event for charity organizations.

About Whole Children:

Whole Children, Hadley, offers afterschool classes for kids and teens of all abilities, especially those with special needs.  Whole Children was started 10 years ago by a small group of moms who were looking for a place where their kids would be accepted, and would learn skills and make friends.  That first year they served 42 families, and since then have served more then 800 families. They offer 8-week classes in 3 different sessions as well as summer programs. The classes are recreation-based (basketball, kung fu, etc), performing arts (chorus, theater, band), and social skills.
