For a quarter of a century, The Healing ZONE Therapeutic Massage has been providing care to the Pioneer Valley. We caught up with their team to talk about the history — and the future — of this Hadley destination.
How many years has The Healing ZONE been in business? Twenty-five years. In 2000, Nanci Newton co-founded The Healing ZONE Therapeutic Massage with a mission to provide compassionate, skilled care for every client—especially those seeking prenatal and oncology massage.
Tell us about your business! What types of services do you provide? We offer therapeutic massage for every body. After nine moves, we’ve finally found a home that’s truly accessible—complete with a ramp, and conveniently located on the bus line and bike path. Our space is designed so that everyone can receive the care they deserve.
What made you decide to start your business? Nanci founded The Healing ZONE after seeing too many clients turned away from spas because of medical conditions. She set out to create a space where everyone—those with high-risk pregnancies, cancer, MS, or other medical complexities—could receive safe, skilled massage care.
In these 25 years of business Nanci has mentored over 30 massage therapists and instilled her massage philosophy. Together they helped thousands of clients. Now, Nanci is embracing a new chapter—focusing on her passion for teaching massage therapy. She is sharing her expertise through educational events at senior centers and local universities, while also pursuing her love of music as both a player and director in the New Horizons Band.

What else should we know about you or your business? Nanci is proud to guide and inspire the next generation of massage therapists as The Healing ZONE continues its mission to heal through touch. By the end of the year, ownership will transition to Brio Howard, a skilled massage therapist with over a decade of experience and a deep passion for medical and restorative massage. Brio is honored and excited to continue this legacy of compassionate care.
