Meet Lucy Damkoehler, the chef/owner of Sweet Lucy's Bakeshop in Bernardston! Damkoehler, named a New Tastemaker by Seattle Magazine, and a Dessert Genius by The Stranger newspaper, has operated Sweet Lucy's for seven years.

Tell us a bit about what you do!

Sweet Lucy's Bakeshop is a New American style bakeshop, offering pastries, cakes, coffee, and take & bake meals. Attached to the bakeshop is The Nest, our culinary education center, where we teach hands-on cooking classes for all ages. Our services include public classes in both sweet and savory cooking, engaging kids' workshops. and customized experiences for corporate team building, private events, and birthday parties.

What made you decide to start your business?

After living away from Western Mass for nearly 20 years working in the culinary field, I deiced to return home (Bernardston) to open my bakery so I can share my desserts and culinary knowledge with people I grew up with. I find such join in sharing my passion through cooking together and eating!
